HOW TO REACH VILNIUS

Arriving by plane
Vilnius airport is just 7 km or 15 minutes by car from the centre of the city. 12 airlines are located in the airport and operate regular flights. A few more local and foreign airlines operate chartered flights. As air traffic in Lithuania is quite seasonal, summer and winter schedules are compiled. According to the winter schedule the airport operates about 300 regular flights a week, and according to the summer schedule - about 320 regular flights a week plus a number of chartered flights.
When you arrive at Vilnius Airport, the fist thing you must do is to go to customs and immigration office where you have to show your pass board. Then you can pick up your luggage, and then you are ready to experience Vilnius.
When you go out into the arrival hall you have a number of possibilities. Here you can use ATM machines, exchange money, rent a car, and use the Lietuvos spauda kiosk where you can buy phone cards, bus tickets, snacks and drinks.

How to get from Vilnius Airport
The easy way to get from Vilnius Airport to a hotel is by taxi. Only one taxi company has been granted a license to have taxis at the airport. The advantage is that the drivers can speak a little English; the disadvantage is that they are not the cheapest ones.
From the airport and to the centre there is about 7 km and the fair should be about 25-30 Lt. It is recommendable that you settle on a price before you take the taxi.
Another way of transportation is the bus. The bus stop is just to the left as you exit the arrivals hall. This is the cheapest way to travel. You buy your ticket from the driver for 1,40 Lt. or at the Lietuvos spauda kiosk for 1,10 Lt. Minibus No. 15 goes via the city centre, a ticket costs 3 Lt.

Arriving by train
Upon your arrival to Vilnius by train you can visit Vilnius Tourist Information Centre where you will find all sorts of useful information about staying in Vilnius. The 24-hour left luggage and Lietuvos Spauda kiosk (open 6:00-21:00) is located downstairs in the basement. Public telephones can be found scattered throughout the station.
When you arrive, you will be close to the Old Town, so you can walk there in only 7 min; go to right when you exit the train station. You can choose to travel by trolleybus 1, 2, 5 or 7 if you want to the centre of the city. Minibuses 1, 2, 4, 5 or 62 go via the city centre, a ticket costs 3 Lt.

Arriving by bus
The bus station is diagonally across the street from the train station. At the bus station there are located offices for left luggage, Lietuvos Spauda kiosk and you can use the public phones.
